Yesterday 6 of our year 9 students attended the Regional Finals of ‘Solutions for the Planets’ Big Ideas programme with their idea of ‘Eco B.O.M.B.’ a biodegradable device to disperse Kapok tree seeds in deforested areas of the Amazon rainforest.
There were 12 teams in the final; all of them presenting their ideas in just 5 minutes and then answering questions from a panel of judges to attempt to reach the National finals to be held at the Houses of Parliament at the end of June. The students were supported by IM Properties & Bluewire Hub who helped the students to develop their ideas into a viable project.
Hailey, Paige, Izzy, Thomas, Danny and Tabitha did a fantastic job and amongst some stiff competition, they were rewarded by coming runners up on the day! We are now waiting to hear if they are awarded one of the wild card places for the Nationals.
