Teaching and Learning
The afternoon support session is aimed at primary teachers that qualified during covid (teachers in year 2 / 3 of their teaching career). The aim of the support session is to provide an opportunity to network with fellow colleagues to enable the sharing of experience and good practice and to focus on;
- Arrival 12 noon lunch provided
- 1 hour session with Sam Moinet from Student breakthrough focusing on wellbeing and resilience
- Practical ways to use adaptive teaching – high challenge – low ceilings so everyone can be successful
- Opportunity for NQTs to network and share experience / techniques
- Developing own classroom practice across a whole year
- Managing time effectively
- Action planning for developing own individual needs
The session will be delivered by Janet Dingvean, Rebecca Hughes and Sam Moinet from Student Breakthrough.

Protective Behaviours (PBs) is an internal process where each person applies the ideas to their own unique experience.
The training facilitated by Ann Seal, will provide an introduction to the Protective Behaviours Process’ which is used in many ways. Including:-
· abuse prevention · bullying prevention · managing challenging behaviour · counselling · staff development |
· crisis intervention · policy development · crime prevention · assertiveness training · parent support work |
· restorative justice · conflict resolution · mediation · conferencing |
Because of the universal ‘we all’ in PBs it can be used by anyone irrespective of their ability, belief system, colour, gender, sexual orientation, profession, age, physical or mental abilities. The training is suitable for both Primary and Secondary school staff.
Course Objectives:
- Attendees will have an understanding of the Protective Behaviours (PB) Process and how it may be practised in their schools to support excellent safeguarding, trauma informed and responsive practice.
- Attendees will learn how the PB process links with restorative practice/ Thrive/ Steps/ Emotion coaching/ PACE and reinforces other good practice the school has to support pupil and staff well-being.
- Attendees will be able to begin to consider how to safely and robustly introduce Protective Behaviours as a whole school approach.

Overview:
Coaching is an effective way to help colleagues to reach their highest level and untap their potential. Coaching matters will enable you to empower your colleagues whilst encouraging you to reflect on your own practice: coaching matters for both the coach and the coachee.

The OTP PLUS is carefully designed to further develop truly outstanding teachers: their classroom practice, their depth and understanding of coaching, and their ability to lead and grow the quality of their colleagues' practice.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the latest innovative pedagogy and develop the mind, skill and knowledge set to lead teams to create a significant impact. They will engage in the latest research to develop the moral and social capital of the organisation.
This programme consists of six sessions focused on leading teaching and learning with a series of post session challenges, completed over a term. A key component of the OTP PLUS is that participants will also be working with colleagues back in their school to utilise their professional learning from the programme to support the development of others.
Full attendance at this programme will enable you to develop and lead a learning focused team / organisation; coach colleagues and teams to improve practice; model innovative practice across the school or trust; and engage in facilitating research driven CPD.

Cognitive Behavioural approach programme to promote resilience and coping skills in children and young people
This course is for teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral support staff who work with all Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students and those with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Research into promoting and developing resilience shows that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps children and young people cope better with life challenges. The Northamptonshire Educational Psychology Service programme for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students, underpinned by cognitive behavioural approaches, aims to:
- Teach life skills for coping with challenging situations.
- Normalise states of emotional distress, and develop self-regulation and self-soothing skills.
- Build positive social networks and role models, and teach constructive peer relationship skills, thus reducing bullying.
- Improve attitudes to learning and academic performance.
