We had a lovely afternoon of tennis and none of which was thwarted by the weather because for the first time we held it indoors! All of us were in for a real treat because the Year 3 and 4s that came played some of the best tennis I have seen in quite a while! One of the leaders said to me “I’ve just watch two boys play a rally that lasted for over eight shots, they were brilliant, much better than me!”
After an hour and half and 12 hard fought matches, we finally we had our winning school…congratulations Silverstone Primary! They were very worthy winners and will progress to the next round due to be held in June, so time to practice!!
Our wonderful leaders we also given the task to award one player the trophy for “Sportsmanship”.
It was awarded to a lovely young lady from Towcester Primary for her constant smiles, cheering on of her team mates and fair play during her own matches, so lovely to see. Lastly, I’d like to thank our amazing leaders, without whom these events could not happen. They are so kind to the children and help them on and off the court. They coached, umpired, scored and ball retrieved to the highest level and at all times (except when concentrating) with a smile!
