Despite us being a Healthy Eating school, this summer in Art 7RB and 7CMB studied the American Painter Wayne Thiebaud and took inspiration from his paintings of rows of Milk Shakes, Ice creams, cakes- Fast Food of the 1960’s and painted sweets

​Thursday 8th June we attended the U13 (Year 7 & 8) District Athletics at Rugby Athletics Stadium. It was a very soggy day in Rugby after several days of heavy rain so conditions were not ideal, however we kept our positive attitude and carried on regardless.

On Friday 12th May Sponne took part in the English Schools Athletics Cup at a blustery Corby track.

Monday 15th May saw the School Games Cycling competition come to Sponne. The competition consists of an individual sprint race, a technical course and a team relay.

Sponne has been awarded the ISM / ISM Trust’s Bronze Certificate. This means that more than 10% of all the school’s GCSE students achieved an A* to C in GCSE music.

After successfully qualifying (in either first or second place) from the district round, Sponne School indoor rowers represented South Northants in the County School Games in Kettering Leisure Village on Wednesday 22nd February.

The year 7 Girls Basketball squad visited Kettering leisure village on 23.02.17, following them successfully winning the last round at Moulton.

On Monday 27th February, myself and Mrs Wade took the Y7 girls netball squad to the County Plate tournament and they came back Champions, winning in the final against Quinton House 4-2!

On Tuesday 21st Sponne School took part in the County (Yr7 and 8) sportshall athletics tournament with both the boys and girls having won their respective events at the South Northants event. Fourteen other schools took part and the standard was understandably high - particularly in the sprinting events.

The Year 7 girls Basketball squad travelled over to Moulton school to play in the district round competition on Wednesday 1st February. This was the girls’ first competitive match and they really rose to the challenge!

On Monday 6th Feb we took a Squad of 10 Girls to the Under 15 Netball County Plate at Kettering Buccleuch Academy. We were up against 12 other schools from across the county and were in no doubt that we had a tough day ahead of us.

After a successful run of games; the Year 7 Girls Football team are through to the finals of the County Cup! The girls played remarkably well throughout the whole game but the second half was where all the action happened.
