Sixth Form
Sixth Form Overview
Sponne Sixth Form is a highly successful learning environment. The majority of our Year 11 students continue with their education with us and we also attract a large number of applications from external students. Our students are very well supported by the Sixth Form Team who pride themselves on their personal contact. We have a range of support mechanisms in place to aid our students such as learning mentors, termly interviews with tutors, revision classes and regular reviewing of progress.
We pride ourselves in our range of extra curricular activities which include our highly successful debating society, the Community Sports Leadership Award, Outdoor Pursuits, Primary School mentoring and Year 7 and 8 subject mentoring.
We are also keen to celebrate the many successes of our students through a credit system, Student of the Year Awards and Senior Prize Giving ceremonies. Students also have the opportunity to voice their opinions or bring in new initiatives and these are shared at regular year council meetings. The year council is lead by our deputy and head boys and girls who are an integral part of our sixth form community and who do an excellent job supporting the Sixth Form Team.
Students are also very well supported in terms of UCAS, careers and apprenticeships and the vast majority of our students are successful in gaining a place at university. We set very high standards for our students and instil a strong work ethic in them. This is reflected in their excellent results at both AS and A2 and we are incredibly proud of our sixth formers.
About the Curriculum

It provides a broad and balanced range of subjects that allows students to gain the knowledge and skills needed to access post 18 aspirations. It aims to enable students to take independent responsibility for their learning and behaviour and make a positive contribution to our school and our community and to develop confident leaders of our school and leaders of the future.
