Term 4 started with a special darts club session, as Matthew Edgar, PDC professional visited to give students an insight to the world of darts and offer coaching tips and training advice. Edgar (nicknamed 'Prime Time'), had made his PDC World Championships debut in December, and is currently building up to competing in the UK Open, at Minehead from 1-3 March.
Students opened the session by playing their usual range of warm-up, practice games with Matthew studying their throw, and how they approached the game. Then it was time for a coaching talk, where Matthew discussed the importance of good stance, and posture when playing darts; not only to be more consistent but also the health benefits. It was then Q&A, where students asked all kinds of questions including about what darts to use, what games to play, and how Edgar got into darts as a child. The session concluded with further games, with more coaching tips before a photo signing session. Many thanks for Matthew for giving up his time to visit the club, and running a hugely valuable session,
which our students took lots away from!
Darts club currently runs on a Monday lunchtime and Thursday after school from W9. Students who wish to find out more about the club should speak to Mr. Cornelius
