Key Stage 4

National Curriculum and Key Stage 4

Students at Sponne start their Key stage 4 curriculum in year 9 and begin their three year journey to complete their studies. During this key stage, students build and extend their knowledge and skills gained during Key stage 3. At the end of year 11, students will be assessed for level two qualifications in GCSEs and BTECs.

Due to current curriculum changes, new specifications were introduced for the GCSEs and students at Sponne are prepared to meet the demands and challenges of these qualifications.

More information can be found under the faculty areas and in our Key stage 4 options booklet.

Structure of Sponne's KS4 Curriculum

Our Key stage 4 curriculum sets out to provide a broad and balanced learning programme for students of all abilities, through a combination of compulsory subjects and choices.

Most students will study subjects which can lead to ten full GCSE awards made up as follows. Those students who take the separate sciences will be able to gain eleven full GCSE awards.
